🏠︎ The Longest Night, Done Right 🌞
Tomorrow is the longest night of the year. Plus free a Community Christmas Dinner, Live Music, and of course some Santa!
Young adults in grades 6-12 are invited to an action-packed evening at the Stillwater Public Library (SPL) for “Teen Night: Nerf Mini-Games” on Tuesday, Nov. 12, from 6-8 p.m. Those interested in attending must register and submit a permission slip to attend.
“Teen Night” is a new program initiated by the library’s Teen Advisory Committee (TAC) to celebrate all the work the group has done for the library and to recruit new members. TAC members attend monthly meetings, provide book and program recommendations for the library and volunteer to help with library programs.
Teen librarian Jordan Stine looks forward to welcoming teens interested in this leadership-oriented volunteer opportunity at the library.
“Participating in TAC is a great way to gain leadership experience in a fun and welcoming setting,” Stine said. “Teens can design events they want to attend and earn service hours. Some of our TAC members even include their TAC experience on college applications.”
The library will provide Nerf blasters and safety glasses for all participants. Stine also asks that all teens interested in attending wear appropriate clothes – no shorts are allowed.
Teens interested in attending must sign up online at stillwaterok.gov/LibraryRegister or contact the library’s Help Desk at (405) 372-3633 x8106. The required permission form can be completed online along with program registration. The Friends of the Stillwater Public Library will provide free pizza and beverages.
Teens can learn more about TAC and apply to be a member at stillwaterok.gov/LibraryTeens.
