Board members invite public to provide feedback
The Stillwater Board of Education has begun the search for the district’s next superintendent with the assistance of the Oklahoma State School Boards Association (OSSBA). The organization will assist the Board with advertising the opening, recruiting potential candidates, furnishing an online application management system, and providing guidance and support throughout the search process.
As part of that process, the Board invites parents, students, staff and community members to participate in an anonymous ThoughtExchange, facilitated by OSSBA and available via the district’s website stillwaterschools.com. Feedback will be gathered from February 5 through February 21, The online survey gives the public the opportunity to provide input on what type of leader they would like to see as the district’s next superintendent. Results from the ThoughtExchange will help board members as they navigate the superintendent selection process.
“We are asking for input from all our stakeholders about what they would like to see in our next superintendent,” Tim Riley, Board Vice President and Superintendent Search Chair, said. "Stillwater Public Schools is an incredibly important part of our community. Its success, Oklahoma State’s success, and that the businesses that thrive here are all interconnected.”
Applications for the position of superintendent will be accepted until March 7 and school board members hope to select the right candidate by April or May. Dr. Janet Vinson will continue to serve as the district’s acting superintendent until the new superintendent begins and will remain with the district until her retirement at the end of June.
“OSSBA has assisted us in locating great superintendents in the past,” said Riley, “and I and my fellow board members are confident they will again help us find a great candidate to lead our district.”
