OSU Extension’s Claude Bess receives prestigious OSU mentoring award

City Manager Kimberly Meek appointed Shannon Jordan as the new Chief of Police; he has served as Acting Chief since March 2024 upon retirement of his predecessor.
“Chief Jordan is a stronghold for our entire organization,” City Manager Meek said. “He sets the example of commitment to excellence and building the team, while keeping the value of strengthening relationships within our community and with other multi-jurisdictional agencies at the forefront. His exceptional leadership in the day-to-day operations, of what is typically a high-stress role, is admirable.”
Chief Jordan has been with the Stillwater Police Department (SPD) for 32 years and served as Assistant Chief since January 2019.
“I’m honored to serve in this role and by the trust placed in me. I will continue giving my best, striving to take care of our officers through support, continued training, and providing all possible resources so they can perform the duties needed,” include Chief Shannon Jordan. “The commitment of our officers, moral courage, and strength of character inspires me every day and I feel blessed to serve this organization and our community.”
Jordan’s years of service to Oklahoma and our country are vast. Jordan served in the Army National Guard from 1983 to 2012, when he retired as Lt. Colonel after 29 years.
“As Chief of Police, Jordan will continue to drive accountability, safety and security efforts, and foster positive change for Stillwater and all of those we serve,” Meek included.
Chief Jordan and wife Gina have 5 children together and 10 grandchildren.
